Tyler T. Ray is principal and owner of Backyard Concept, LLC (BYC), an outdoor business and advocacy firm specializing in legal, management, event and consulting services to the outdoor recreation industry in New Hampshire and beyond. Located in the Mt. Washington Valley, BYC manages Granite Outdoor Alliance, a statewide industry association supporting outdoor recreation businesses and organizations in the private sector.

Impact of Outdoor Recreation in mwv Panel speakers include:

Janel Lawton, Director, Office of Outdoor Recreation Industry Development
Janel joined BEA in 2021 as its rural economic development administrator, working with public and private stakeholders in six rural counties. She was also the state’s program manager for the Northern Borders Regional Commission and is an avid bicyclist, snowboarder and Nordic skier. Her professional background includes marketing, sales, and business development in the private sector, including Garnet Hill, Performance Inc. of Chapel Hill, SC., Loon Mountain Recreation Corp., and Heavenly Ski Resort, Lake Tahoe, California. In September 2022, Janel Lawton was named the state’s outdoor recreation industry director and is excited to combine her economic development experience and passion for the outdoor recreation to support and grow the outdoor recreation industry and communities in New Hampshire.

Mardi Fuller
Mardi advocates for racial equity through writing, speaking and community building.  A lifelong backcountry adventurer, in January 2021 she became the first known Black person to hike all 48 of New Hampshire’s high peaks in winter.  She lives in Boston where she works as a nonprofit communications director and volunteers with the local Outdoor Afro network.  She writes for Outside magazine, SKI magazine, Melanin Basecamp and more.  Mardi is committed to personal and corporate Black liberation and thereby, liberation for all humanity.  She believes deeply in nature's healing power.
